Rusty Doberman Pinscher Fillmore, CA

Rusty is a young male Dobie who had a rough start in life. He was rescued from an upstate animal shelter and fostered for several months by caring people who began by first treating his severe demodectic mange. The treatment started in January, 2016, when Rusty was about 12 months old, and by the beginning of April, he looked 90% better. He also had entropion surgery for inverted eyelashes/eyelids, and he has recovered from that as well. During his stay with his foster family, he received some training, including being crate-trained and housebroken. He also learned that "sit" will get him more praise than jumping on people, and he learned how to be more calm when necessary; he's ready for his training to continue so he can bond with his special human(s), which he very much wants to do. In our kennel, we tried pairing him with a submissive large female dog, and he was a bit too active, overstimulated and dominant for her, nipping her a few times in his excitement. Rusty may be best as the only dog in the home, especially because of his energy level and training demands, and we'd definitely recommend a home without young kids or small dogs; he'd probably squash them!
