Meet Sven

Hi, I'm Sven, a 4 year old American Eskimo mix. I have major trauma in my life and when the Animal Rescue Project heard about it, they came to help me. I had a severely broken hind leg from an accident that happened within my previous home. Due to the nature of the break, it was within my best interest to amputate my hind leg. I have relearned how to control my body, and I am still relearning how to trust people. I do not like to be cornered, or to be rushed upon for a greeting. I like to take my time and feel you out on my own. When you come to meet me, I will be in my cage, and it is best if you ask to get me out so we can meet. I have made a best friend in my favorite staff person Kristen. She has made me feel great! I play fetch, and I come for belly rubs and snuggles. I am regaining strength for walks. Please note that my breed is a one person only type of dog. Due to the nature of my trust issues, I need a home with a fenced in backyard, no children under 10, and someone with time to help me learn to trust them. If that could be with you, please fill out an application today. Our office manager Bethany will set up an appointment for all of us to meet, including the person who knows me the best, Kristen!

****My adoption fee is $325.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $25 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan
