Meet Ebony

Ebony is a sweet, gentle, and kind-hearted dog who is wishing with all her heart that someone will notice her.

From her long velvety ears to her soft golden eyes, there is something truly special about this sweetheart. Maybe it’s the gentle way she takes treats. Maybe it’s her love of companionship – her immense desire to be with people or other dogs. Or maybe it’s the quiet, hopeful look she gives when people come near her kennel. Whatever it is, she has won the love of staff. Described as “attentive, gentle, sweet, and easygoing,” Ebony has stolen the hearts of those who know her. Her caretakers desperately want this precious lady to find a new home away from the stress of shelter life.

Sweet Ebony is still learning how to fully trust humans. She gets worried and anxious when she’s separated from her toys and other comfort items. Ebony is a beautiful girl who broke our hearts a little the first time we met her. Since she can’t speak human, we’ll never know her story. Despite whatever has put the anxiety in her, Ebony has already started showing her willingness to give humans a chance. Her caretakers have wonderful things to say about this soulful girl: she’s house trained, she is gentle and well-behaved, she is quiet most of the time (unless she really, really wants something), she is attentive, she doesn’t wander off, she’s calm and tranquil, and most importantly, she’s an absolute sweetheart.

Ebony is hoping for a patient person who sees what a special girl she is and wants to be part of her healing. Do you have a place in your heart for this sweet, gentle, and kind-hearted dog?

Ebony is a Black and Tan Coonhound who was probably born in 2010. She is relaxed and easygoing with other dogs and is calm around strangers. If you are looking for a low-key friend to keep you company, warm your feet at night, and love you unconditionally, then Ebony would love to meet you!

****Her adoption fee is $195.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $25 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
