Health: Reo is in perfect health, neutered, heartworm negative and current on vaccines.

Our Story: Reo initially came to JCCARE when he was rescued from a shelter in the Midwest. He was adopted and completed dog obedience class. He was returned to JCCARE because he nipped a couple of folks and was kind of bossy about things he highly valued. He moved to Georgia to live with our Board Member who is a dog trainer and behaviorist. He has learned to be less impulsive and is working on good manners around people he does not know. Like most Japanese Chin, he can be stand offish with strangers. Once he gets to know you and you give him a treat or toss a ball, he will be your buddy. He loves his foster mom and dad and gets along beautifully with other dogs after initial appropriate introductions.

Reo is a high energy dog, can jump four feet high and is very agile. We think he has springs in his feet as he jumps for joy! Reo is very intelligent. He loves to learn and was trained using positive reinforcement. Commands he knows:
• Sit and Sit Pretty
• Down
• Wait
• Stay
• Come
• Leave it
• Release
• Settle
• Out
He loves to play with other dogs and enjoys being outside in a fenced in yard to play if you are with him. He doesn’t like to be alone! He enjoys sitting in his foster family's lap facing them on his back legs, paws on their shoulders and give kisses. Reo also "roo roos" when he's really happy!

Our Ideal Home: Reo requires that his forever home be located within three hours of Atlanta, GA and has a (5 foot minimum) fence. He is working on his leash skills and enjoys a daily walk. He will need a doggy playmate that has a high play drive to keep up with him. He gets along great with any size dog after initial appropriate introductions. He would do best with a stay at home parent as he does not like to be left alone. Reo does not feel safe around children. He gets along great with his foster family’s kitty so cats are ok. His forever home would be filled with lots of squeaky toys and balls for him to fetch and a soft bed to sleep with his humans at night (he is not crate trained). He would likely do well in Agility and Rally or Scent Work – he loves to work and has the energy for it.
