Shammie Golden Retriever & Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler Mix Dillsburg, PA

Meet gorgeous Shammie, an 4-year-old, Aussie/Golden mix. His previous owner had health issues and could no longer care for him so he was surrendered to the rescue 2 years ago. Unfortunately he thought he had found his forever home but he was recently returned to the rescue. Shammie began soiling in the house after living there for quite sometime so we are unsure what change or stressor occurred to cause this behavior. Back at the rescue he is dutifully using only the outdoors to go potty again so perhaps he just missed us and wanted to return!

Shammie is a little shy when first meeting people, but warms up quickly and is an easy going guy. He is very affectionate and loves to give snuggles and kisses. He travels well in the car, and doesn't mind vet appointments. He also loves to play with toys.

We have learned that Shammie can become protective of his owners and has even protected one owner from the other. Therefore, it would be best for Shammie to be adopted in a home with no children and ideally with only one owner. Shammie should also be the only dog in the home; however, he is great with cats!
