Description of Chin: Casper is considered a "lemon" colored chin. He is mostly white with faint red markings and a cute little pink nose. Casper was turned into a shelter by his owner and rescued by JCCARE.

Health: Casper was probably born with knee and lower leg deformities that should have been attended to when he was a puppy. At this age it would require multiple surgeries and recovery and questionable on how well it would help. His handicap doesn't seem to slow him down much and gives him no pain. Currently he is on no medication but his foster family does give him joint supplements to keep his bones strong and healthy. Due to Casper's leg deformities he will not be able to take long walks or go hiking. He will how ever be able to love and cuddle with you.

My ideal home : Casper would like a home with little to no stairs to the outside world. He has no problem using stairs, but it makes his life easier if he doesn't have to use them multiple times per day. Casper is doing well with house training and seems to be housetrained, he is on an "out" schedule every 3-4 hours during the day but does not potty thru out the night.
Casper would not like to share his home with small children as they may be a little to energetic for him. He wouldn't mind if they visit as long as they don't pick him up or try to play with him.
Casper loves stuffed toys and will often play with them, squeaking them and tossing them around.

Casper is a bit shy at first but once he knows you and trusts you he will want to be near you 100 % of the time. He loves to sit on his foster Moms lap or lay next to her on the couch. He will often follow her from room to room.

JCCARE Adoption Process: To adopt a Chin from JCCARE, start by filling out the application found on our website at www.japanesechinrescue.org. The application is under the Forms menu.

If you aren’t ready to adopt yet but would like to help this dog, please click on the purple SPONSOR ME button above the name. Your donation will help us to pay for the care of this dog until he/she finds a furever home.

JCCARE also maintains the lives of many senior and special needs Chin in our “Sanctuary” program. These dogs are not listed on petfinder, as their health issues make them unlikely to ever be adopted. If you are a lover of the breed, could you please consider sponsoring one of our seniors? You can find their pictures and stories under OUR CHIN on our web site: www.japanesechinrescue.org
