Meet Eddy

Eddy is finally ready for his new home! We would love for him to be adopted with his foster brother Rio. They have truly bonded and are inseperable. Please be sure to read Eddy's full bio so you know all that he has been through. If interested in being considered for Eddy please fill out an application at www.yorkiesinc.com

We will not be placing Eddy as an only dog and will preference to applications wanting Eddy and Rio as a bonded pair.

Meet Eddy our newest foster with Yorkies Inc. We received a plea from a veternairy hospital in NH asking if we could take Eddy into Yorkies Inc. Eddy is a 6 month old 2.1lb male Chorkie (Chi/Yorkie mix). Little Eddy has had several eposoides of hypoglecemia the most recent one causing him to become non-responsive and needing emergency veternariry care. They suspect he may have a liver shunt and/or other issues causing him to become hypoglecemic and neurologic. Of course Yorkies Inc agreed to take on Eddy, wanting to give him the chance that needs in order to surive and figure out what is wrong with him. Eddy is being transferred to Tufts for further testing and medical care. Once we have more information it will be posted. In the meantime, please send positve thoughts to little Eddy and consider making a donation to help with his medical expenses at www.yorkiesinc.com All friends of Eddy will be listed below his name.

UPDATE: Eddy has been diagnosed with severe pneumonia and is septic from the infection. He is currently in the critical care unit at tufts. Please keep him in your thoughts and consider making a donation to his rising vet expenses. Thank you!

UPDATE: Eddy's lungs have cleared! The antibiotics worked. Within the next couple weeks Eddy will be going back to the vets to have an ultrasound to see if he has a liver shunt.

UPDATE: Eddy is going to have a nuclear scan done on April 8th to see if he has a liver shunt. We re tested his bile acids and they were still high.

UPDATE 4/19: A shunt was found, so the next step is surgery. Please consider making a donation to help with his medical care at www.yorkeisinc.com. Thank you!

Update: 5/1 Eddy had successful liver shunt surgery! They were able to find and fix the shunt. He should be ready for adoption in about 4 weeks. We will be looking for a home with another small dog for Eddy to play with as he loves to play with his foster siblings. We will not be placing him in a home with bigger dogs or children. If interested in being considered please submit an application at www.yorkiesinc.com

6/16 Eddy needed emergency eye surgery for an ulcer that quickly became infected.

Update: Eddy is now 13 months old and 6lbs. He continues to be an active little guy who is full of life and energy. Eddy will need at least one other playful dog in the house as his favorite thing is to run and play with his foster siblings.

Update 10/1/16 Eddy's eye continues to heal nicely and he will be going back for another recheck this month. There is still scar tissue on the eye from the graft but the opthamologist is hopeful that the scar tissue will continue to get smaller.

After coming home from the hospital for his eye surgery it was noticed that Eddy was favoring one of his back hind legs. Another trip to Tufts and x-rays confirmed a torn acl. After trying crate rest he still was favoring his leg so Eddy will be having surgery to fix his knee and torn acl at the same time. After surgery Eddy will need to be on strict crate rest, which will be hard for such an active guy! Please keep him in your thoughts and we will update once he has had surgery. Thank you!

Eddy is now 17 months old and will be having surgery for his torn ACL October 26th . Please keep him in your thoughts.

12/1/16 Eddy had his patella surgery and continues to recover nicely. He needs to go back to tufts for x-rays in about 3 weeks to make sure that his knee is healing correctly. Eddy loves to play with his foster brother Rio (it has been hard stopping then from playing while Eddy recovers) and would love to be adopted with him if possible. We will not be placing Eddy as an only or with bigger dogs. he loves to play with other dogs his size. If you have any questions please write to kerri@yorkiesinc.com
