Meet Buckus
Meet Buckus!

Buckus was listed as urgent at Animal Control due to being stressed at the shelter. This was understandable for an approximate 10 year old guy who spent many years in a home. Buckus wanted to be part of a family again.
Buckus' time was up at the shelter when one of our supporters let us know about him. He had a day to find an adopter or rescue to step up and take him in. We posted a plea to find a foster for Buckus and an adopter of another Bella-Reed pup stepped up to foster!
Buckus' former owner surrendered him to the shelter because they could no longer care for him. They reported that he is an affectionate and playful dog that loves fetch. He has plenty of energy and is house trained! He was dog and cat tested at the shelter and passed with flying colors. His previous owners report that he is good with people of all ages, including children. He is currently living with another dog as well as cats in foster care and is doing great!
Buckus seeks attention from whatever human is around him! He is extremely affectionate and loves his belly rubs. While Buckus is an oldie, he is definitely a goodie with a lot of spunk left in him! His favorite thing in the world is to play with a ball - when you throw it, that's even more of a bonus!
Buckus does have some separation anxiety when he is in the crate if you are home and he can hear you, but calms down when you leave the house.
Buckus is looking for a new foster or adopter ASAP! His current foster home has come into a predicament where they can no longer house Buckus until his forever home is found.
Buckus is up to date on vaccines, dewormed, neutered, microchipped, heartworm (4dx) negative, and on monthly heartworm preventative. He has also had senior bloodwork and a urinalysis and is in perfect health! Buckus does have a minor case of laryngeal paralysis, which can be treated by surgery, but in his case, the vet said he will be just fine as long as he doesn't overexercise or overheat himself (which at his age, we don't plan on exhausting him with physical exercise anyway!). No meds or anything are required.
