Meet Chester

This is the story of a dog who loved too much.

Chester came to HLD from the Washington County Animal Shelter. He had actually been adopted out by the shelter to some folks about six months ago, but he was returned to the shelter recently because they said he was too needy. When they were loving on one of their other dogs, Chester would squeeze in between the human and the other canine to get his share -- well, probably more than his share -- of attention. He was never aggressive, just persistent in his quest for a little affection.

Now, Friends, we’re not telling you this story to elicit angry comments about Chester’s former owners. We don’t really know the whole story. We don’t know what else was going on in their lives that made them feel it necessary to return Chester to the shelter. What we do know is that Chester is a great dog. We only told you this story to let you know that Chester’s most outstanding trait is his love for his people. He does indeed love, and we mean LOVE, attention and probably needs a little work on his self confidence. But he would be a wonderful companion for someone who doesn’t mind having a dog who will make his human the center of his world. So, Friends, we ask you to focus along with us on Chester’s brilliant future in just the right home with just the right person or couple or family.

Chester has another trait that sets him apart. He has a bum leg. We’re not sure what happened, but at a young age before he first came to the shelter, his back right leg and foot were injured. Maybe by a trap, by another animal? We just don’t know. But it sure doesn’t slow Chester down. He uses the leg. He walks, runs, jumps. He’s a happy fellow who just doesn’t realize how very special he is.

Chester is about a year and a half old and weighs about 15 pounds. He’s neutered, housetrained, up to date on his vaccinations, and microchipped. If you need more love in your life, Chester is your dog. For more information about Chester, e-mail us a houseoflittledogs@gmail.com.
