Meet SPIRIT
Meet SPIRIT! Spirit is a fitting name for her because she is full of it! Fast and rambunctious. She will snuggle in your arms for hours if you can catch her. She spends a bit of her time bird watching and lying with her mom, KIT KAT. While she doesn't enjoy being chased by the dog, she does like to rub up against her and give her a kiss from time to time.
We first met SPIRIT and her family at our local animal facility. Her mother had just given birth to her and her siblings and moved into one of our foster homes a day later. They all grew and played normally and were always healthy. When it was time to get them all fixed, we found out Spirit, her mom and brother were positive for Feline Leukemia (FeLV). It was a hard diagnosis to hear and we realize its possible they may not live full lives, but they deserve the best life possible no matter how long it may be. Exposure to the feline leukemia virus doesn’t have to be a death sentence; about 70% of cats who encounter the virus are able to resist infection or eliminate the virus on their own. One of our own FeLV cats, Honey, lived to be 12yrs old :) FeLV cats should not be with other cats, unless they too have the FeLV virus. FeLV is NOT contagious to humans or dogs.
Spirit was born April 3, 2015. Consider adopting her and her brother, Max.
NOTE: Our cats are microchipped, FeLV tested, given age appropriate vaccinations and have been dewormed. We require a completed application prior to any adoption. Applications and adoption policies can be found at www.forcatssake.org. We do not do same day adoptions and we do not ship cats. Thank you for choosing our all-volunteer, foster-home based rescue!
