Meet Smokey

FOSTERED IN GREAT FALLS, VA. Smokey is a neutered male Seal-point Himalayan of seal-point coloring. He meets all standards of the breed. He was surrendered by his owner, who could no longer care for him, to a shelter in MD. From the shelter, he came to us when the shelter got over-full. He is approx 8 years young and got neutered recently. He has a very sweet and outgoing personality, is curious and a chatter-box, and he wants to be with you at all times -- he is more like a dog than a cat :-). He is very social and a wonderful little boy who comes for attention and looooves being petted. Smokey will make your heart sing! We believe he would do well with children age 6+ and will blossom with their attention. He seems hesitant around other cats or dogs but most likely would adapt to them if his new family executed the introduction process slowly and carefully. When his coat will have grown out again, he will be a stunning specimen! == Upon coming to our rescue, this cat had to get shaved due to severe matting. We had the kitty vetted (distemper vaccines, rabies vaccine, exam, FIV/FeLV test to confirm nonexistence of feline aids and feline leukemia infection), spayed/neutered, and given an ID microchip to assist in finding home should this kitty ever accidentally get out the house. == Please note that Himalayan and Persian cats are as pretty as they are labor-intensive. These cats require daily grooming, including combing of the entire body and gentle wiping of the eyes. Many of these cats were discarded by previous owners due to the amount of care they need... so please, please consider carefully whether you will make this daily routine part of your life for the rest of this cat's life... or whether a domestic shorthair or mediumhair kitty might be a better match for you and your family. Persians and Himalayans are a great companion for those who love to touch and pet and scratch ears and manually share affection... but not for people easily distracted when the newness of the pet wears off. == If you are serious in devoting the next 15 or so years to his companionship and care, please find and complete our adoption application at http://www.va-persianrescue.org/adoption. We would love to see Boo "home for the holidays" :-)
