Meet Honey

Sweet Honey was a stray found in the county. She was laying in someone's yard and they thought she was hurt. When animal control arrived, she was very quiet and grateful for some attention. She was checked at the vet and just appears to have a sore back. She is now on anti-inflammatory medication and doing great. She was immediately brought into foster care because of her nice personality. She is a Beagle mix, approximately 20 lbs, and very easy to be with. She is not one to bay or bark like some Beagles, but does whine a little for attention. She lets her foster know when she needs to go outside and is 95% house trained. She is in an adult household with women and many dogs. She loves playing with the larger dogs and is super with other people. Honey visited the Humane Society office and did well with all people. She ignored the office cats. We think she is 2-3 years old . She is crate trained and is doing well on a leash. We think she was mostly an outside dog as she has been fascinated by TV and a few other indoor activities. Her adoption donation will be $125 to help with her vet care. She has been updated on all of her vaccinations, spayed, has been wormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventative. Honey is heartworm negative. If Honey sounds right for you, please fill out an adoption application. Thank you for your interest in our rescues!

Dog Adoption Guidelines:

You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. You can fill out an application at www.forthepets.org/adoption.htm or email to humanesociety@murray-ky.net for an application.
It is not a "first come" process; we try to "match" the dog with the family for a FOREVER home. We process all applications at once and take the dog off the site, place on adoption pending status until a decision is made. If a suitable home is not found, the dog returns to active status.
The dog adoption process can take about two weeks; we are a small group of volunteers who have full time jobs.
All of our dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges, unless otherwise specified.
We do not fly or ship our dogs due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the dog back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered.
If you apply to adopt a dog and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the dog and fill out the paperwork in person.
We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport.
We can't provide individual "meet and greet" sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have time to visit with the dog before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
