Meet Dilla

Dilla is a beautiful 4 year old Poodle and Shih Tzu mix who weighs about 11 lbs. She loves her people and will sit on her hind legs to wave to her friends, or to let you know she needs something (like a bite of your food!) Dilla is great with other dogs and enjoys playing with plush toys. Her favorite thing to do is nap on the back of the couch and sleep in bed with her foster mom. Dilla walks nicely on a leash and rides in the car beautifully, she does not love to be in her crate or to be left alone in general. We expect her to adjust to spending time alone as she gains more stability in her life. Dilla was found as a stray and covered in painful mats and inches of matted fur so thick that she appeared to have a shell. She feels so much better now that she is shaved down and her hair is starting to grow back in.
Dilla is nervous around new people and will bark when strangers approach. She settles down and is friendly with them within a few minutes. She has probably had some bad experiences in the past and will need a lot of positive reinforcement and positive exposure to new people. She bonded to he foster mom right away, and seems to be more comfortable with meeting women over men. Time and patience is all it will take for this little one to steal your heart! She will be so lucky to have you!

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
