Kimba needs a foster home Treeing Walker Coonhound Medfield, MA

Kimba has been in rescue for a while and came to the Medfield Shelter in hopes that she would be less anxious in a calmer environment and with a structured training schedule. Our trainer, Kate Brady, has working with her for a month and she is improving every day and we think she is now ready for a foster home. She has gone back to where she was before she was moved from shelter to shelter. She's has learned how to sit calmly before she gets attention; she also sits and waits before going in or out of doors. Like any real hound, she just loves being outdoors and getting totally involved in sniffing everything. But she is still responsive to people and now walks well on a leash with nearly every one of our volunteers. She loves toys and being outside. She loves to go for walks and loves to snooze outside in the sun. She gets along with other dogs and will either play with them or ignore them, but usually she plays. She loves going to nose work classes.

Kimba is 4 years old, spayed and up-to-date on her vet care. She is not suitable for a home with cats or small critters.

If a dog is listed on our website, that means that dog is still available for adoption. The Shelter is staffed primarily by volunteers so adoption meetings take place on Saturdays from 11 - 1:00 during adoption hours, or by appointment. Our dog adoption fee for dogs 6 years old or younger is $150. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, tested for heartworm and Lyme and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash and a month's worth of heartworm preventative. If a dog is listed on our website, they are still available for adoption. With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.
