Pixie (a.k.a. Pickle) Cattle Dog & Collie Mix Cincinnati, OH

Pixie, also known as Pickle (the sweet kind :o)), is a beautiful and brainy female Collie/Heeler-mix; who was an owner surrender at a very high kill Kentucky pound, the kind we don’t like. Pixie was in serious and immediate danger at this Kentucky pound, so STAF made sure that this gorgeous girl was safe and brought her home to STAF. Pixie is about a year and a half old and is around 40 lbs.

Pixie is wonderful with other dogs and has plenty of playmates as STAF as well as is a regular at doggie daycare. Pixie will probably do best in a home that is cat-free, since Pixie's inner herding gene kicks in whenever she sees a feline friend and most cats do not want to be herded by a 35 lb dog :o). Herding breeds also tend to do best in homes with children a little older (taller) than the average sheep :o), 8+ years old.

Did we mention that Pixie is smart, like blowing the doors off her first basic manners class easily on to the next training level. Pixie loves to play and she loves, loves to learn. She will need and be in heaven having her own fenced backyard where she can run and play fetch with her new family. This girl thrives with and adores both mental and physical stimulation and when she is done being a genius for the day, Pixie eats up all the petting, rubbing and loving she can get. She will melt on your lap and tell you just how much she appreciates your love and attention when she gives you the Pixie-long-stare with those gorgeous amber eyes.

All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
You must complete an application at the shelter prior to meeting any of our animals. (Sorry--our application is not available on-line or via email.)
We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.
We require a fenced yard (sorry--no invisible fences) for homes with children under age 11.
We do request vet and personal references.
At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 150 miles of Cincinnati.
