Max Chihuahua Holyoke, MA

Hi, I'm Max! I'm a happy 5 year old chihuahua boy, weighing in at 10 lbs and looking for a great home to call my own. I love to be near my people. I walk nicely on a leash, but I don't necessarily need a ton of outdoor exercise to be happy-- I'm happy to prance around and play with my toys indoors. And best of all it's a lot warmer inside.

I don't want to brag, but I am pretty smart. I love to learn new tricks and investigate new places. But let's live someplace quiet, because lots of people and other dogs coming and going all the time can really stress me out. My perfect home would be calm and adults only. I would love an owner who has had chihuahuas before. My adopters should understand that I have some fear of new people and situations and be excited to work with me on socialization and positive interactions. I don't love to be handled by people I am unfamiliar with. I am spending time in my foster home learning who is in charge (not me!) and getting a lot of positive reinforcement. I have shown a tendency to guard some high value items as well as some of my favorite people, which is why I am looking for a strong willed person who can work with me to become the confident dog I know I can be!

I am housebroken, and I'm okay with being left alone during the workday. Currently my foster mom works all day and I just relax in my big comfy crate. I also sleep in my crate quietly all night.

I'm all right with other dogs that I've been introduced to, but I am really all about the humans. It would be fine by me if I were the only dog in the household. More of your love for me!
