Meet Rosie

For more information about The Hobbits – please contact Kristi at kledwards29@aol.com Please refer to our adoption process on our website (www.enchantmutts.org) and send completed applications to kledwards29@aol.com. We will contact you when we receive it. These puppies will not be adopted out of state and we prefer they stay in the Albuquerque area. They are not ready to leave for their new homes until mid-September but qualified applicants will be encouraged to meet them.

Meet the hobbits!! We saved what we thought was a gorgeous male border collie from a rural shelter in the nick of time and to our surprise – he was a she! And she was heavily pregnant. Five days later – we had the four …. Hobbits!! Date of birth is the wee hours of 7/22/2015 and they are a beautiful bunch!

Momma – Flirt – is a wonderful girl and we think purebred Border collie and she has captured all of our hearts! Very intelligent, sweet, loyal, ball crazy and gets along with everyone and everything! Flirt has been an exceptional momma and her pups are fat, sleek and happy little hobbits. She is exceptional and we know her four babies are going to carry on her wonderful traits. We don’t know who daddy is and never will – unless Flirt fesses up - we suspect he was a handsome fella (or fellas) by the look of the kids.

The pups are happy, sweet, playful and adorable. They have been eating gruel and progressing to puppy food nicely and should be ready for their new homes by mid-September. Their adventures have begun and they are loving their socialization with people and they are developing their little individual personalities. We don’t know who they will be so the next couple weeks we should be able to better gauge their personalities. All the puppies are already doggie door trained and enjoying life and in true hobbit fashion especially enjoying all their meals!!

Merry – the biggest girl – black with four white paws and a couple black toes - is not one to turn down any morsel and is content to be loved on and was the first to find the toys and play with them. She especially loves to squash her siblings and will sit on them to hold them down.

Rosie – the red girl and the big adventurer is always the first one to go outside and run wickedly through the grass. She is the instigator and will start things and then run away – on to new adventures. Rosie has some wonderful freckling going on her front paws.

Pippin – the beautiful brown and black girl is the first one to try anything – give her something and she will run with it and can be clocked at the speed of light! Her coloring is just gorgeous!

Sam – the only boy and the littlest black one with a white collar is a bit more reserved than the girls but he is finding his voice and as with most siblings – lets the girls lead him into trouble. He loves his own little adventures and especially loves exploring on his own.

To adopt one of these hobbits – full vetting is paid for with the adoption fee of $200. They will be ready to go at 8 weeks depending on the home. We do not spay and neuter our dogs prior to 5 or 6 months and there is a contract in place in ensure our vetting schedule is followed upon adoption – no exceptions. The vetting includes a series of three (3) parvo/distemper shots (first one is at 8 weeks and three week increments thereafter), worming protocol (already done at 8 weeks), three months of heartworm preventative (already started), microchip, and rabies given at the time of spay or neuter at 5 or 6 months. A puppy contract must be signed and agreement reached on the details. We are looking for active homes where the dogs are treated as family and preferably with another dog in the house – no small children please.
