Jimmy American Staffordshire Terrier Trenton, ME

Hi, I’m Jimmy. Do you like to play? I have lots of energy and need an active family to be sure I can get enough exercise. I’m not destructive but do enjoy a good game of keep away or tug of war. I overheard my caretakers saying that I am highly intelligent. I don’t like to brag, but I am a pretty smart boy. And just the other day, someone told me I was very, very handsome. I think I’m blushing…

I already know the commands sit, shake, lay down, and off. I can be very reactive around other dogs but am not necessarily aggressive. I love people and enjoy getting pets and attention from them. I also like kids, but because I am very energetic and can be highly enthusiastic, it would be best if my new family included older children only (13+). I wouldn’t want to hurt a child, but I might accidentally knock over a small child due to my size and exuberance.

A home with dog experience would be best as I may be a little more than an inexperienced human can handle. And because I am intelligent, I will do best in a home that provides lots of mental stimulation as well as physical activity. I am okay when left alone, but I shouldn’t be alone more than about six hours per day. If I’m alone too much, then I may get bored, and when a smart dog is bored, they will certainly find something to do…not always something of which humans approve.
