Age: 3 years (approximately)
Good with Dogs: Depending - needs slow intro's; once she has a slow intro she does well with other dogs but if playing she does elevate quickly so playtime MUST be controlled. Unless with a very experienced handler, would do best as an only dog.
Good with Cats: No - likes to chase
Good with Kids: Yes
Weight: 50 lbs

My Story: Chante started out life on the Pine Ridge Reservation. She was found in a very rough area, with a face (literally) full of porcupine quills and a litter of 6 puppies to protect. She spent several months getting the medical attention she needed as a result of the quills, as they penetrated her nasal passages. Fortunately, she is completely physically healed, feeling much better, and ready to move on to her "forever"!

Hobbies: Chante loves bird watching. She would love to play with the birds but the birds probably wouldn't appreciate it! Chante loves her walks and loves to roll in the grass. She is just a lover of life! She loves to play with her squeaky tug toy and chew on antlers.

Commands/Tricks: Chante knows sit, and will come when called – when she wants to anyway. She is a little stubborn and used to making her own rules. She is very smart, and learning rules and boundaries when people make them.

Crate/Potty Trained?: Chante is crate trained (crated for a full work day) and potty trained.

Activity Level: Medium. It is important she gets her daily walk to work off that Heeler energy! Once she gets in her walk, she is content chewing on a toy or lounging around the house with her humans.

Who I Currently Live With: We have no idea what her life was like before Pet Haven other than to know it wasn’t the best. Currently she is spending her time with a couple cats and a dog. While she can be a little bullyish with her toys, she has total respect for the resident dog – she has learned that we do not bother the other dog when she is still eating...we sit patiently and wait for a treat. *NOTE* Chante's current foster home is VERY experienced in handling dogs and is able to get Chante to respect the resident animals. However, during her time in other temporary foster care while her foster is out of town, Chante has struggled more with resident animals of the homes who watched her. Therefore, she would really do best as an only-pet in her home, or with another very strong handler willing to work with her on boundaries as they relate to the resident animal(s).

My Ideal Family: Chante loves everyone she meets and is very tolerant! She is a little more particular about her 4-legged friends. She is a dominant girl and needs slow introductions to other dogs. She has a high prey drive and we are discouraging homes with cats, though she currently lives with 2 cats – one she has reached an understanding with, the other not so much. Chante can be stubborn and is independent. She will need a leader equipped to handle her. If she is allowed to rule the house, you can bet she will. That being said, her tail is always wagging, her butt is always wiggling and she is just waiting for you!

Chante will be attending Pet Haven's adoption events. Her adoption fee is $320 (cash or check only) and includes spay/neuter, heartworm check, current vaccinations, and microchip and registration.

Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 60-mile radius of the Twin Cities area.
