Ralphie Coonhound & German Shepherd Dog Mix Lafayette, IN

Ralphie is growing up right before our eyes. This sweet pup is now 6 months old and getting really big--already 50 pounds! We have had a lot of recent interest in Ralphie, but we want to make sure the home is a great fit for him. He will need a fenced yard and a canine buddy; he is not suited for apartment living. We have to remember that full grown Ralphie will be a very big boy!

Ralphie's mom is a hound/German shepherd mix, and his dad is a full-blooded coonhound. Ralphie definitely has the personality of both hound and shepherd. He's very smart, but also pretty stubborn in the cutest way possible. Plenty of exercise (play time with another dog) and distractions (antlers and tennis balls) help Ralphie stay out of trouble. Ralphie knows basic commands and is especially motivated by food. He can sit, stay, shake, lay down and get down, a particularly important command for the quintessential counter surfer.

In addition to loving other dogs, Ralphie is not a fan of cats. He is very friendly with children, but is still clueless that he is much bigger than they are. We recommend a home with children 9 and up. Ralphie will want a home that gives him plenty of chances to be outside and also appreciates his snuggles and kisses inside.

Ralphie is neutered, up-to-date on shots, microchipped, housebroken and crate trained.
