Meet Frankie

Frankie is a sweet, smart, and friendly 2-year-old dog. He very rarely barks and didn't even bark when the previous owners tied him outside for most of the day. He likes other dogs and would do very well with a dog playmate and a fenced yard to help run off some of his energy. He is a bit of an escape artist and was relinquished because he bolted out his last caretaker's door near a very busy road, so will need a securely fenced yard. He loves the play area at the Shelter. He seems to like kids, but probably shouldn't go to a house with young kids that might leave a door ajar. He is a little skittish, likely from all the changes he has been through recently, so we will post more once he has time to settle in. He was neutered on May 29th. He is in a foster home right now with cats and another dog, and his foster mom says he is very mild mannered, and was very tolerant of all of the initial territorial stuff her dogs did when he first arrived. He ignores the cats or just looks at them, and has made no effort to chase her small dogs or cats. He appreciates any attention given to him.

If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out the dog adoption application on this page of our website: http://medfieldshelter.com/dog_applications/new

If a dog is listed on our website, that means that dog is still available for adoption. The Shelter is staffed primarily by volunteers so adoption meetings take place on Saturdays from 11 - 1:00 during adoption hours, or by appointment. Our dog adoption fee for dogs 6 years old or younger is $350. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, tested for heartworm and Lyme and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash and a month's worth of heartworm preventative. If a dog is listed on our website, they are still available for adoption. Please fill out the adoption application if you would like to be considered for a dog you see in our care.

With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.
