Star Pit Bull Terrier Michigan City, IN

Star is a deaf, 1.5-2 year old, 50-60 pound (a little underweight), and HW negative pitbull. She came to the shelter Thursday, May 7th. She has been kept as an outside dog and has never had contact with anyone. She was afraid and wouldn't come to her owners so animal control went over to their house and brought her to us. She came in extremely scared. Through her being as scared as she was when she was brought in she never showed any aggression. We are hoping with a patient and understanding family that has experience with deaf-dogs can give her a chance at a life that she hasn't ever had. Star has SO much love to give. She reaches out to our kennel techs to give them kisses. She is truly an amazing dog.

We have all fallen in love with Star. Her temperament, her ability to learn to trust, and her personality are developing and improving every day. When she first came here, it took 2 kennel techs to bring her outside and now she waits at the front of the kennel and will wag her tail. She would walk behind our kennel techs initially, low to the ground and scared. Now, she will wander off next to you on the leash and even will jog. Her confidence is increasing and she is doing amazing. We have given her vaccinations, drawn blood, and have learned she is very handleable. She is still nervous and timid, but is learning and beginning to trust. It is so awesome to see.

We also know that Star loves other dogs. She is happiest when she is playing! She is great with female and male dogs, large or small. A home with other dogs would be great for Star.
