Meet Scruffy! He is a survivor! He must have been someone's owner. Clearly a owner he never wanted to go back to. He lived over a year in the woods. Nobody could catch him because he was afraid of how he would be treated. One day, a woman who lived down the road from the shelter started feeding him. Days turned into weeks and eventually Scruffy trusted her and she was able to pet him... leading to capturing him. She and her husband fell in love with Scruffy and wanted to keep him. Scruffy was so happy living with them and relaxed out in the sun. He would not expect that 2 years later he would be brought back to the shelter, because they got a puppy and did not want Scruffy anymore. This boy is now in CT looking for his forever home and to get the love he deserves. Scruffy is shy when he first meets you, but he will warm up to you pretty quickly. Scruffy would do best in a home where its quiet or has older teens who will not mis handle him. Scruffy loves hanging around outside with his friends or to be laying on the couch watching a movie with you. He is a couch potato. Please give Scruffy the forever home he deserves.

If you would like to adopt Scruffy, please contact Rachel at racheldoubledogrescue@gmail.com.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

VETTING NOTE: Double Dog Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. If anything is brought to our attention, we treat the dog. After adopting the dog, you will be responsible for following up with all vetting going forward.

HEARTWORM NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 5-6 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
