Dove Cattle Dog & Labrador Retriever Mix Macon, GA

Everyone meet Dove! She is a Blue Heeler (mother was full blooded) Black Lab (father was aslo full blooded) mix around 7 months old. She was part of a an accidetal litter and unfortunately her mother passed just two days after they were born due to complications with the birth. The whole litter then had to be bottle fed until they were old enough to switch to puppy food. She and her two sisters that were place in homes through the rescue were all adopted but unfortunately Dove was returned because her family no longer wanted her.

When we got her back she was extremely scared and upset. She is now in a foster home with a great foster and once she was there she became a different dog and was not so afraid of the new surroundings.

Blue Heelers, also known as Cattle Dogs, are a working breed and so are labs (the father in a hunting dog and the mother was a farm dog). This means that Dove really needs a home that will giver her structure and a job to do which could be something as simple as fetching a ball. She would probably do awesome on a farm. Dove wants to please and is very intelligent. Her foster has started teaching her some basic commands such as sit, down, and place to start giving her the structure she needs which she learned all three very fast!

She will need a very special home that can provide her with what she needs or we know for a fact that she will end up right back with us. Dove has the potential to be a great dog and is so smart who knows what really cool tricks you could teach her! The trainer that the rescue works with has a cattle dog that she taught to shut doors!
