Roo Poodle & Shih Tzu Mix Boulder, CO

Roo could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a sweet and fun-loving guy who is the most devoted companion around. There's no question that Roo would also do well with gentle kids who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd feel more comfortable with older children as part of Roo's family not because he's unkind with young kids, but because he only weighs 8 lbs at approximately 9 months old and we want to make certain he's handled gently and respectfully. Roo does love playing and is so entertaining in his silly antics, energy and the love he wants to show to everyone who is kind to him. The shelter vet identified Roo as a purebred Poodle. We can't commit to his being a purebred...maybe a bit of Bichon, Shih Tzu or another very cute fuzzy breed with a great personality is a part of Roo as well. Roo's sad story is all too common in the scary Kansas shelters....but who could ignore Roo's beautiful face with the dark expressive eyes and the softest coat ever? Roo also has an adorable manner and a desire to bond with anyone who gives him a bit of time to get over his initial shyness. He will then be a loyal and devoted best friend and before you know it... he's in your lap gently loving you with a wag and a kiss. Our awesome Kansas rescuer recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. Roo's definitely got some votes for one of the more matted, shelter-dirty guys ever... but with a serious grooming, the beauty of this stunning pup will become evident (we'll update with a photo). Roo is a non-shedding guy (considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic) and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat healthy and matt-free. Roo is so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a fun walk, a hike where Roo would love nothing more than to cuddle up in a backpack and watch the trail from above, a visit with dog-loving friends or just an afternoon spending time together cuddling on the couch - all of this would speak to Roo's nature. He would also enjoy the company of other small and gentle doggie playmates - together they could play in the yard, tumble over each other in the most fun way possible and then lie together in the sunshine of a beautiful day. We aren't open to a situation where Roo's family spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Roo to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. He'd be a good choice to bring along to a dog-friendly workplace..he'd be overjoyed with the socialization and time spent with his favorite person.
