Fiona - spayed; one of two dogs surrendered Boston Terrier & Shih Tzu Mix Shelbyville, IN

Welcome to Petfinder! We received a phone call last Tuesday, February 24 from someone that was bringing two dogs out to the animal shelter to surrender on Friday the 27th. No one ever showed up so we were hopeful their plans changed or they were able to find a family member to take the pair. Yesterday, March 3 after several other dogs were relinquished a gentleman walks in carrying a pair of dogs. Hoping they needed microchipped or anything, we find out that they were the dogs that were supposed to be surrendered last Friday. While Dept Head Barrett was preparing our last kennel for the pair (thank God they got along and could share their kennel) I was trying to get the information from the man. His girlfriend was actually the owner of the dogs but she was not willing to come into the office and stayed in the car. I believe I was frustrating the man with my questions that he didn't know the answers to but how else can we adopt out two senior dogs without background knowledge on these adorable girls. What I was able to find out is that Fiona is spayed. Housebroken. Good wtih kids, other dogs and cats. They were moving and couldn't take them. She is seven-years-old. Way past due in all shots including rabies (state law) but doesn't know who the vet was. Fiona is more playful than India but will growl when eating her food (you can stick your hand in her bowl) because as the man stated, she is used to a Pit Bull trying to steal her food while eating. Kristin (volunteer who took these adorable pictures) concurred with his statement that she does growl while eating. He did say that the Pit and Fiona were best of friends and would love to see this pair adopted out together but we are just trying to get anything adopted at this point as we are full AND Vet Tech has a lot of our pets too. Fiona's adoption fee of $30.00 covers her Home Again Microchip and registration, booster and wormer.
