Meet Katie!
Our Katie is a perfect little lady. She truly is the ideal companion! She is 20 lbs and a mere 5 years old. Katie has had more happen to her than most dogs have in a lifetime. This little lady was taken from a situation where she had been bought with another dog as a hobby. They were kept outdoors open to the elements all year round and little to no kindness was ever shown to them. They were bred repeatedly and never treated as pets. Their food was thrown on the ground and they had little water. katie spent her life protecting and caring for her mate. When they came into JRTRO care last year Willie always hid behind Katie and she was the strong one. We were thrilled when they were adopted together as they had such a bond. Eventually, after long thought and many conversations with the rescue it was determined that Katie actually needed and longed for independence and Willie needed to learn to stand on his own four feet. Katie was moved back into foster care and since then both she and Willie have blossomed in their new found freedoms.

Katie now loves to go for walks, she strolls along beside you with no pulling or tugging. She loves to give kisses and is so thrilled with this that she makes little grunting noises as she does so. There is nothing Katie likes better than so snuggle up in her very own bed and be close to you. She is finally learning to play and thinks that boy dogs are the best, she does well with submissive females (she is a dominant female) and is cat friendly as well. She has been to school and knows her learned her basic commands as well as shake a paw. She is very clever and takes direction extremely well.

She is a very good natured little dog, she uses her ears to express how she is feeling, her foster mom loves to see this. She would thrive in a calm home without a lot of loud noises as they frighten her.

Katie needs someone to take the reins now and help her become the super dog she knows she can be. Her wish list? A calm home in a non urban setting, with or without preferably a male boyfriend to play with, and someone who will help her continue on the road to her zen. Oh and LOADS of love to give her because she has so much to give back.
