Name: Chevre Breed: Shepherd mix

Approximate Age: 1.5 yrs

Approximate Weight: 42.4 lbs

Currently Living at: A foster home in the D.C. metro area.

Bonjour, mon ami! This adorable 1.5-year-old, 42-pound Shepherd mix girl is as sweet as can be! She is very kind and affectionate toward everyone she meets! Although Chevre gets along well with other dogs, we haven't had a chance to see her interact with kids or cats yet. If you have either, let us know, and we'll find out more.

Chevre has a great, energetic personality and will need mental and physical stimulation on a daily basis. She loves playing with other dogs at the shelter and can't wait to make new friends in DC.

Chevre may no longer be a puppy, but she will need a committed owner to provide training and exercise to be a well-behaved dog.

Chevre is dreaming of finding a warm and loving forever home! All she needs is a caring person or family to give her all the love and care (and treats!) she deserves!

Like most shelter dogs, Chevre may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

FOSTER UPDATE: “Hi, I’m Chevre. I was a stray until Lucky Dog found me and I’m now all settled in with my foster parents. I’m not one to brag, but I’m pretty cute! I have really tall ears that wriggle around based on my mood, soft chestnut fur and a “Mona Lisa” smile. My foster folks are super proud of how quickly I picked up on walking with a leash, house training (not one accident!), how well I do in my crate and my mastery of the commands, “sit,” “no” and “stay.” I’m still working on “shake,” but I know I’ll get it soon. I’m looking for a family that likes to cuddle and to play. I love to give kisses and curl up to you on the couch. I definitely need exercise and if you’re a runner, even better! I’m good with other dogs and people. Sometimes I get a little nervous, but don’t hold that against me. Just a mild defense mechanism leftover from my solo stray days.”

The adoption fee for this dog is $300, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Emily Jagdmann at emilyj@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
