Meet Elsa

Hello everybody – I’m Elsa, and am very pleased to meet you. I’m a sweet, young female Chihuahua. You might notice that I look a little different, that is because I am very unique. Not only do I have a curly tail, mouse ears, a silly little underbite and a goofy bunny hop when I run, I am also deaf. Don’t worry though – it doesn’t stop me from having fun everywhere I go.

Although I can not hear where you toss my toys, I find them! My foster parents laugh, because I am definitely the nanny in the house. I love to “tidy up”, and will pile up toys, socks and tennis balls for you. Also, I am not the typical dog that tears up stuffed animals. Like I was saying, I like things in little piles. I’m also potty pad trained, but do best when kept on a potty schedule. Same with my food, I'm a bit overweight, and can definitely use a play partner to shed a few pounds. Life has not always been so kind to me, so it takes me a moment to realize I’m safe. Previously, I was brought into the shelter and was in a lot of pain from an unknown trauma. Everything hurt so bad I couldn’t even move. However, with time, pain medication and love - I’ve been feeling much better!

I recently went to the vet, where they noticed I have a funny bone structure, likely due to malnutrition. Don’t worry though, I am healthy and I feel great! It just means my legs look a little funny when I run – which I do ALL the time. I just LOVE to bounce and play! I’m great with other dogs, kids, and am a little disappointed the cat that lives in my foster home won’t play with me (maybe it is because I “tidy up” and take her mouse toys?). I get along with anyone who takes the time to get to know me.

Also – if you have treats, I’ve got tail wags for you. Snacks are pretty much my favorite thing in the world. It just so happens that I love to give kisses and snuggle too. If you scratch my tummy in just the right spot, my leg gets going and I make a funny face too. It just feels so good to get love’n! I would love a home that appreciates how unique I am, and will be mindful of my special need since I can not hear. Ideally, I will need a fenced in yard, I can be skittish, and will need someone to take the time to let me know their warm presence so I don’t jump. Is there such a home out there, that can love me for who I am?

If you think I might be the gal pal for you, please fill out an app at www.NBSanimalrescue.com. Even if I am not the furry friend for you, would you mind sharing my story? Thanks!

Love,
Elsa

You can fill out a simple online adoption application at www.nbsar.org and we will start processing your application right away! We do require that persons interested in meeting me apply online and be approved as an adopter first so please visit our website and submit your application today!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on it's vaccinations and heartworm preventative as well as spayed/neutered unless there is a documented medical reason on file with your veterinarian. Dogs must be current on DHLPP, Rabies, and Heartworm Preventative, cats must be current on Distemper, Rabies, and Heartworm Preventative at the time of application.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and will fill out an adoption application right away, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family. Would you please help me by sharing my picture and information on your Facebook page, or e-mail to your friends and family members? I'm a great pup and I really deserve a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
