Meet ANNALISE

On October 10th, 2014, we got a call from a Wyoming gal who discovered an injured kitty on her patio the night before. Worried that she had recently been hurt and had no way of caring for herself, Lisa M, made quick work of contacting us. When this darling two year old (born in the spring of 2012) arrived at the clinic, I discovered that her right foreleg had been damaged, but the trauma sustained was quite some time ago, causing the limb to literally freeze in a flexed position. Since she was quite anemic from a flea infestation I had bigger issues to deal with first, treating her red blood cell destruction caused by an organism transmitted by the fleas, as this condition could be life-threatening. So while she was being medicated I took her on home to hang out in my home office, not knowing that her arrival would start a landslide of sick and debilitated kitties needing extra home care. I soon discovered that my pretty little princess loved the cozy comfort of the closet, making it her own private little palace. Although she had free reign on the room, she was quite happy perched up on her makeshift throne, allowing her adoring fan (me!) to visit and lavish her with pets and praise - ooh and Temptations treats! A few weeks after her arrival, her anemia resolved and I was able to take her to surgery to remove the leg that was hindering her mobility; she cruised through surgery without any complications and was soon back home with me to recover and recuperate.

As I mentioned, her arrival marked the official designation as my office becoming a temporary infirmary for three other cats in need, plus my resident old lady, Sailor Moon. Jack Skellington, Mariouchie and Rubaeus were awesome roommates for Annalise, as they all kind of did their own thing and no none questioned her ruling of the roost:) She still preferred her closet quarters, but as she healed and adjusted to her new and improved tripod status, she started venturing out and about— oftentimes I would come home to find her sleeping in MY closet, curled up behind my shoes. I was so impressed with her bravery and boldness - this little girl had come so far in the short time I had her with me!

In early November it became apparent to me that Annalise was ready to hop on down to Crash's, and even though I was going to miss her adorable little button-nose greeting me every morning, I knew it was time for her to move on to bigger and better things, and meet her adoring Facebook fans and followers! Rubaeus was rarin' to go too, so we set them up in their own room for a bit to acclimate to the hustle and bustle of shelter life. When I asked our cat care director to give me an update at the writing of this bio, she had the following to say:

"Annalise is not quite the social butterfly that Rubaeus is, but she is out and about. I find her in different places around the shelter so I know she's getting around, but I always have to go looking for her. She likes attention when it's offered, but doesn't seek it out. Definitely a princess - she expects people to come to her ;)"

Considering all that Annalise had to deal with while she was alone on the streets, we are more than willing to treat her like royalty! She simply is divine and I am confident that in no time she will be going on home with a family who will dote on her and adore her as much as we do!
