Meet Howie

Howie is a sweet golden retriever mix who was turned into the shelter, then quickly brought into foster care. He is one of five siblings. His Mom is a purebred golden retriever, but we are not sure about his Dad. He weighed 3.12 lbs. on 10/29/14 and was born about 9/17/14. He will be a medium size dog when full grown. His foster family keeps him close and gives him lots of attention. He has visited the Humane Society office and is doing very well with dogs, cats and people. He loves to play, but then quiets down for a nap. His foster Mom is working with him on housetraining and he is making good progress, He sleeps in a crate at night and only needs to get up once for a potty break. He is a cute ball of fluff and loves to be cuddled. He is current on his first puppy shots, has been wormed, and is on flea prevention. His adoption donation will be $175 with $75 returned to you upon proof of his neuter at 6 months. Thank you for your interest in our puppies!

Dog Adoption Guidelines:

You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. You can fill out an application at www.forthepets.org/adoption.htm or email to humanesociety@murray-ky.net for an application.
It is not a "first come" process; we try to "match" the dog with the family for a FOREVER home. We process all applications at once and take the dog off the site, place on adoption pending status until a decision is made. If a suitable home is not found, the dog returns to active status.
The dog adoption process can take about two weeks; we are a small group of volunteers who have full time jobs.
All of our dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges, unless otherwise specified.
We do not fly or ship our dogs due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the dog back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered.
If you apply to adopt a dog and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the dog and fill out the paperwork in person.
We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport.
We can't provide individual "meet and greet" sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have time to visit with the dog before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
