Meet Uncle Arthur

UPDATE: RESCUE COMMIT 1/19/15
Uncle Arthur is a pug mix male found as a stray on 5th Ave North on 10/29/14. He weighs 16 pounds and is very fearful right now. We hopefully will be able to handle him later but for now the ACOs have him as a fear biter and the vols cannot handle. He is getting better but still growls in unfamiliar situations. He has cherry eye in both eyes which will need to be treated at the vets office once he is adopted.

This boy is getting better. When he first came in the ACOs told us not to handle him and Salem. As the days have gone on and he realizes humans are nice to him and will give him good canned food and treats, well the tide is turning. He is now coming to the front of the kennel without hesitation and isn't jumping at Salem anymore when you give them their food bowls. He still wolfs it down but doesn't eat it all in under a minute as he did before. In the next few days we hope to get him out for better pics. I can already tell he has gained weight. He is still leery of strangers but with us its obvious he responds to familiar faces now. He has a cherry eye in both eyes which do not seem to be bothering him, so after he is adopted he will need further vetting.

ID No. 309 Available to adopt 11-3-14. Available to rescue 11-4-14. Possible euth date is 11/12/14.

By TN state law stray dogs are held for 3 days so they can be found by their owners before being put up for adoption. Rescues are allowed to pull dogs on the day after they are put up for adoption. A dog found as a stray wearing a collar is held for 5 days before it is put up for adoption, and on the 6th day is available to rescue. Our shelter is a first come first adopt/rescue facility.  There are no holds placed on dogs for potential adopters/rescue. They are available at 7am on the day they are available.
The current adoption fee is $71 which includes the dogs spay or neuter, Rabies vaccination, and Distemper/Parvo vaccination at a local vet. .  Dogs are given 2 weeks to find a new home and due to limited space and resources are given a two week euthanasia date on intake.
