Nevin-ADOPTION PENDING Shih Tzu & Poodle Mix Boulder, CO

The Shih Tzu/Poodle is a favorite of the mixed breed dogs. We all seem to love the combination of the outgoing nature and fun personality of the Shih Tzu combined with the smart and intuitive nature of the Poodle. Nevin appears to be a perfect combo of these 2 popular breeds. His gorgeous charcoal black and silver/gray coat (the photo in no way does this beautiful guy justice) lights up his adorable face. Nevin is obviously very special...he was found wandering sadly through a Houston neighborhood and a kind TX dog-lover couldn't let him go..she brought him into her home to heal and didn't realize when she brought him to a shelter that he would be euthanized.
At just about 12 - 24 months old and 13 lbs, Nevin shines with an engaging and incredibly sweet disposition. He is an active and comical guy whose tail never, ever stops wagging once he's comfortable in his surroundings. He loves to be included in all fun and would love nothing more than a neighborhood walk with his family. Nevin enjoys gentle, very respectful kids 10+...he's just a small guy and wouldn't do well with any poking or tail-pulling. Nevin would be an active participant in outdoor fun in the sunshine or a walk to the park. Somewhere along the line, we think that Nevin had been given love and respect..probably because he's so capable of returning warmth and kindness. Nevin is great to take along anywhere there are groups of dog-loving people. He's a bit shy but always warms up with time and warm hugs.
We feel that Nevin would do well in any home that offered him love, time (long hours left alone at home wouldn't be in the best interest of this social and sensitive pup), appropriate exercise/ mental stimulation and positive reinforcement training to make him the best dog he can possibly be.
Nevin is a cuddly and very devoted pup who would do best with a family who is searching for a lap dog who they would love as a best friend. He's a very portable size and can be so easily scooped up and brought along for any adventure. He'd be a perfect travel companion..he's great in the car and can easily fit under the seat when air travel is necessary.
Nevin has the beautiful coat of his breed mix (and will grow more shining and healthy as he's given great nutrition). He is a non-shedding pup and will therefore require periodic grooming to keep his coat healthy and matt-free.
