We are thrilled to announce that Ariel is now ready for adoption! Ariel’s story will touch your heart, as it did ours. Sweet, sweet Ariel. This girl is one of the sweetest Chihuahuas we have in our program. She deserves a super forever family.

Ariel has an amazing story that we would love to share with you! Can you believe Ariel weighed 25 pounds when CRT rescued her?

Ariel’s story begins when a good Samaritan found Ariel in a ditch in Arlington, Texas. She was too obese to get out of the ditch on her own. They could tell by the fur indentations around her neck that Ariel had worn a collar at one point – so she had been a pet. But she was fed to the point of being obese – and she had been abandoned in a ditch to fend for herself. CRT was called for help and we knew we couldn’t say no! This was in February 2013.

CRT quickly committed to working with her to get her back into shape. We knew this was a long term project, as there was so much weight to lose. We are happy to report that she is now at an ideal weight of 12 pounds and ready for a forever home!

One of the things we have discovered as a result of her weight loss, is that her back legs are deformed and bowed outward. When she first came to us she was so obese that she could not even walk!!!! With the weight loss we can see that part of her dilemma is the deformity of her back legs. Now the question remains “Was she born like that or was it created?”. We may never know. But she now can now walk, and get around great.

Ariel has been SO grateful to be with us. She is very loving. She loves humans, and loves her Chihuahua brothers and sisters. She tries so hard to get into the pack and play with them. She enjoys playing with toys. She loves to be petted. She follows her foster family around the house because she just wants to be with them. She wags her tail and looks up at us with loving eyes. she is super mellow and rarely barks. She is potty trained and is very smart. Ariel is a perfect companion dog for a medium-to-low home. She is only about 6 years old and has many long, healthy years ahead of her.

Ariel is a wonderful dog. The changes in her life have been tremendous. She is certainly an "over comer".
