Meet Maise

Hi, my name is Maisie. I’m told that I’m part Cattle Dog and who knows what else. i might have some Shepherd in me, too. I’m about 9 years old and weigh about 42 lbs. I know, I'm a bit chubby... ;o) I live with my BFF, Lilly. Up until recently, we lived with our Mom in California. But she passed away suddenly. We didn’t know why she didn’t come home. And our world was turned upside down. We were very sad, and we missed her. But my Mom’s good friend came down to California and took us back home with her to Oregon. She’s very nice to us, so we’re getting over our sadness. And now we have another friend, a very nice Pit-Bull, named Patchouli.

I’ll tell you a little about myself. I’m a quiet girl and kind of shy. Once I’m comfortable with you, I’m very affectionate – kind of a Velcro dog. I like to be in the same room as my person, so I will follow you from room to room. I bark when I need to let you know there’s someone near the house, or when I’m startled. But I don’t carry on for long. I’m a gentle soul, but I love to run and play outside. I walk pretty nicely on a leash. I take treats ever so gently. And I’m good with dogs and cats. Cats intrigue me. My Mom didn’t take us in the car very often, so I’m a little nervous in the car – my legs get kind of shaky. But I think that if my new person were to take me on short rides so that I can get used to it, I would really like going in the car with my person someday. Oh, and one of my favorite things to do is to roll in the grass. It just feels good to me – it’s a doggie thing.

Adoption Process: We are not first come first served. Indigo Rescue focuses on finding good matches between dogs and families to ensure life long adoptions. We deliver all dogs to their new homes. All of our dogs are in foster homes. We have adoption events at the Tanasbourne Petco on Wednesdays and at PetSmart on 185th every other Sunday where you can meet many of our dogs at once. Or, if you're interested in a particular dog, you can send an e-mail with answers to the questions below via the purple Contact this Organization button at the upper right of the pet's description. Just copy and paste the questions into your email to respond. If the dog seems compatible with your situation we'll set up a time for you to meet the dog.

Do you have other pets now? (briefly describe)
Have you had pets in the past? What became of them?
What kind of exercise will you provide for the dog? (type/frequency)
What is your schedule like? How long/often will the dog be alone?
Where will the dog be while you're gone? Where will the dog be when you're home? Where will the dog sleep?
Who else lives in the home? Do you have children? How old are the children?
Are you in a home or apartment? How long have you lived there? Do you have a fully, securely fenced yard? (type/height)
Do you own or rent your home?
What changes in your life are likely in the next 10+ years (or life span of the dog) and how will the changes affect the dog? (moving, job or schedule change, school, having children)
Anything else you'd like us to consider in finding the right dog for your family?

Indigo Rescue only adopts to homes within 30 miles of Portland because our volunteers deliver all of our dogs to their adoptive homes. We work very hard to create a family of our Indigo Rescue adopters because we want to be close enough to help in case there are any problems. We want everyone to be happy and successful!

Adoption Fees: $200 for larger adult dogs, $250 for small adult dogs and puppies of any size.

Thank you for your interest in adopting and saving a life.
