Zena Rottweiler & Flat-Coated Retriever Mix Raleigh, NC

Zena is now over 5 years old...she was adopted out & quickly given away on Craig's list....microchip got her back to us...she is obese now, and must lose weight to protect the leg that we paid alot to have repaired 4 years ago. She is a wonderful dog..but still is not good around smaller animals/chickens....We hope for a foster family if she does not get adopted quickly...as we do not have fosters who can take her at this time...

Latest Update: Zena wants to get to cats and little dogs (chihuahua who is a spoiled little alpha) Zena is an alpha female as well or tries to be. But with Blanton & Elsa or Roscoe & Rudolph she plays well and behaves appropriately.

ZENA is one of the sweetest dogs out there! SHE HAS BEEN MEDICALLY CLEARED with no restrictions on activity!! She is 65 lbs and has lots of energy to spare after being limited so long. She is a good dog, and would love a new foster home.... or even better ..... a furever home!!!!!!

Zena would love a home with a fenced in yard so she can get some daily exercise. She's not super active all the time, but when she plays, she can play hard! So she needs some space. Zena is good with older children.... probably too rough for small kids.

Zena is good with some dogs, but she will need to be tested with any dog siblings. She wants to be dominant, and as long as the dog doesn't challenge her for alpha, things should go well. She has played well with other dogs at events and at boarding. It just has to be the right fit. She definitely should not be in a home with cats though. She is way too interested them.

This girl is very snuggly with people and loves attention. She deserves a wonderful home! We hope she will find the perfect place for her real soon!

Update on Zena: This gentle soul makes an impression on everyone she meets. She had a successful surgery to repair a torn ACL in her hind leg. The vet believes her other knee is fine and will not need surgery. She had undergone a second surgery on the same knee because the vet loves her and wants to make sure that the knee is as stable as possible so Zena can have a long and healthy life. Zena remains in boarding as we look for a foster who can work with her limited mobility as she goes through recovery. She needs a foster home with few or no stairs so she does not stress her knee (and she is too heavy to carry!). Once she has healed she will be ready for her furever home and whoever adopts this beauty will be very lucky indeed.

Rottweiler mix female, she's very sweet and friendly with everyone, even went in the cat room and just sniffed round and walked out. About 60 lbs.
FOSTERS say: Zena is a very sweet 4yr-old Rottweiler who enjoys the outdoors but also loves to relax inside (housetrained). She is gentle and playful with 1yr-old Roxy, her foster sister.
