Meet Ronni

Foster Mom Gina says: What can I say about Ronnie? He's my first foster dog, and I couldn't be more pleased. After the first couple of days of being out of the hospital and in my house, he has settled right in. (He's been here for a week now.) I sort of thought he would be this sickly, fragile dog, and although he has some health issues to keep in consideration, he is just like any other dog. He is playful, super friendly to everyone who has come over to the house, goofy, and just sweet, sweet, sweet. He totally puts up with my dominant Pekingese, Shadow, and my elderly Pug, Jerry and is quite happy to be low man on the totem pole so to speak. (He has tried to play with Jerry a couple of times, and I needed to correct him on that. He doesn't realize Jerry is old, deaf, and nearly blind.) He really just wants to be friends, and just this morning, I caught Shadow and him laying on the floor together pawing at each other, and being affectionate. Little dogs think they are the boss sometimes. I have had to set some boundaries with Shadow, and it is going just fine. I think they do better when I'm not around, lol. He didn't like the hardwood floors at first, but learned to walk on them the very first day. He wouldn't come down the hallway to either of the back bedrooms for the four or five days, but he is sitting right here with us as I type this, just hanging out. He loves going on walks, (walks nicely on a leash) and his hip dysplasia doesn't appear to affect him AT ALL. I've started him on supplements to help slow any progression of the condition. At first, I was hiding the pills in cheese, but decided to forgo that and just pop them in his mouth. He is very gentle, and lets me open his mouth and put them in. He has a playful, energetic side, (his whole hind end shakes back and forth when you talk to him) but is also very mellow, and will just hang out most of the day too. He prefers the loveseat to his nice donated dog bed, but totally gets down if you want him to. He is totally house trained, not one accident inside. Because of his bleeding disorder, rawhide and other "bones" are not recommended, but he loves his ropes! He knows sit, and "go lay down," but needs work on "down" and "come." Although we haven't been practicing much on any of those yet. We are all going for a ride in the car later, and to a friend's house to get his pictures taken. Will update on how all of that went. Hoping to get him around some fairly mellow "big" dogs soon too, as he is not supposed to "rough house" too much. He's just a dream, and I'm so happy to be able to help him. Ronni has a few medical issues and will need an adopter that can provide for future needs. Please refer to:

SAFE IN A COZY FOSTER HOME: Our beautiful English Bulldog Ronni is enjoying his new bed in his new foster home with BBBR Volunteer and Foster Mom Gina. Thanks to BBBR Volunteer Shelby for transporting him from All Valley Medical Care Center in Meridian to his new foster home and for completing the dog introduction with her 2 little dogs. Thanks to BBBR Home Inspector/Transporter Joan for completing the home inspection.

Ronnie is a super great family dog and he's not fragile or sickly! He just needs people that will look out for him and keep him safe, as he has a congenital bleeding disorder that prevents his blood from clotting easily. It's not contagious; he was born this way! Ronnie is just like every other dog; he enjoys walks and hanging with his human. He's good with other pets and while he's not an athlete, he would benefit from daily walks and maybe even swimming. Please consider Ronni, he's awesome!

DESPERATELY SEEKING A FOSTER OR ADOPTIVE HOME: Ronni is still waiting in the hospital! Thanks to BBBR Foster Parents Trevor and Keeley for spending time with him today. Trevor reports: Ronni is doing well, he's gained some weight and became active once we got him off the tile. Because of his hips he doesn't like walking on hard surfaces and seems to have a little trouble balancing on them. Outside he became an explorer and trotted around to every bush and pole to inspect it. He enjoyed relaxing in the shade and was content to sit in our laps and observe everything that was going on around him.

He is easy to manage on leash, didn't pull and would follow where you lead him. He did well with the two cats he encountered in the lobby and didn't seem too interested in them.

SWEET RONNI HAS STABILIZED: This sweet English Bulldog is receiving treatment at All Valley Medical Care Clinic in Meridian. He has had 2 surgeries and has been diagnosed with Von Willebrand Disease. That's a fancy term for hemophilia which means, his blood doesn't clot easily and he needs his people to look out for him. This is not a contagious illness, it is congenital and he was born this way. Thanks to the staff for providing him with excellent care. Today he had a blood transfusion thanks to Dr. Andrea Sparzo and her dog Adelle. the rescue will keep you posted regarding his progress. DONATIONS FOR HIS CARE ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED: Please refer to www.boisebullybreedrescue.com
