Meet Kay

KAY
Looking for a dog who will bond fast to her human family?
Well, this may be the dog for you.
Kay's ability to bond is amazing. Within three days she was so attached to my husband that she spent two days watching out the living room when he left for work. Kay was surrendered by her owners to a local animal shelter because they were moving. Sadly, I bet she would have easily moved with them. She spent just over a week at the shelter before we picked her up and brought her into our program. Once in our home she picked her human and started to settle in.
That was almost a month ago from today and now she is comfortable in our home and only runs to the door when he goes outside. She doesn't sit looking out the window anymore, or if she does, not for long. There is simply so many more things to do! Like eat, play with another dog, nap on the bed, bark at the bugs and well, just be a dog.

Kay is good with other dogs and cats and children.
When our five year old grand twins visited, she was fine with them. They could not carry her around and they were very good around her but she hung with us and sat on the couch with them when they played. I would recommend she not be in a home with young children all the time but rather a home with older children or an adult home with visiting children.

Kay is three and a half years old. She appears to be a Maltese-poodle mix.
She weighs in at just under 12 pounds. She goes in next week to be groomed. She will need to be groomed on a regular basis.

Kay is house trained. She does ok in a crate but she is rarely in one.
She sleeps in our bedroom at night time, sometimes on the bed and sometimes on the floor.
When she is on the bed she is a very still, sound sleeper.

When outside we keep her on a leash or in a fenced in area. She has gotten off her leash and she has not run far and has come back but I suspect she would be a "let's go look at that" kind of dog and end up further and further away. A fenced in yard or dedicated dog walker would be best for Kay.

Kay's adoption fee is $250 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, up to date on shots and a new Lupine collar or harness and leash. Lupine is guaranteed even if chewed.
