Jonah Basenji Mix Naperville, IL

Jonah is an adorable 2 year old Basenji mix who can't wait to find his new family. Before coming to A.D.O.P.T., Jonah hadn't spent much time with people and needed a little extra help learning how to make new friends-- he can still be timid with new people, but opens up with a little time and patience. Because of his timidity, kids can be a little overwhelming; Jonah would prefer gentle kids ages 12+. Once Jonah gets to know you, he is a happy, wriggly, silly pup with loads of goofy personality. He loves to play with stuffed animals, pounce and wrestle with his friends, and play chase with his foster brothers. Jonah loves other dogs and would do great at doggy daycare or living with other pups.

Jonah recently completed a special class for shy dogs to help him learn relaxation and develop confidence, and he was a star! He is familiar with clicker training, answers to "JoJo," knows "touch" and "come," and is doing great with his housetraining. He is very attached to and affectionate with "his people," and will be an amazing best friend to anyone who invests a little extra love and patience.

Please note that Jonah has been in foster care; as his foster mom works at the shelter on weekdays, he is generally available to be seen during adoption hours on Mon/Wed/Thurs/Fri and occasionally spends the weekend at the shelter while his foster family travels. We encourage you to call ahead to confirm that Jonah is available to meet before making the trip to A.D.O.P.T.
