Bear: Adopted! Labrador Retriever Mix Kansas City, KS

Date of birth: 5/2013

6/13/2014: Bear is super sweet-natured Lab mix. He has beautiful brown eyes and one ear that sticks up! KCK Animal Control brought Bear to us after they'd picked him up. He'd been hit by a car. His pelvis was fractured in multiple places so he had to have surgery to repair it. After some weeks of rest and recovery time, Bear is up and walking and doing really well. He's still pretty slow, but he's getting around. We took him to our Dog-N-Jog event on June 8, and while he didn't compete in any races, he had a great time getting out and mingling! We don't expect any more problems in the near future with his pelvis, but he will most likely have arthritis when he's older.

Bear is a little shy, but now that he's able to get around we're introducing him to new people and he's coming around. He's very sweet and he gives kisses. He gets along with other dogs, but he's not ready to play and wrestle with another dog at this point. He's about a year old and currently weighs 50 lbs, although he needs to gain weight.

Bear has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. He's sweetie!

All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of our dogs, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the dog home with you that same day.
