Roscoe Basset Hound Oakland, NJ

There’s no denying it – our guy Roscoe is a ladies’ man.
This handsome five-year-old Basset hound enjoys the company of women and will melt you with his big brown eyes.
Until recently, the story would have ended there, but no longer. Roscoe came to us from our Louisiana rescue partners and was very scared of men. We are not sure why, but something in his past frightened him. It did not make him aggressive, just timid.
It took a while, but Roscoe now shows some encouraging signs of moving past that. Lately, he has been willing to trust some men who befriended him patiently, and enjoys hanging out with a few of his new male friends, going on hikes and cavorting in the shelter’s play yard.
Roscoe would do best in a calm and patient adult home. We had been looking for a female-only home, but now we think Roscoe would learn to accept a man who approaches him gently and lets him bond at his own pace. A well-socialized dog-friendly, people-friendly dog in the home would help him build his confidence.
This sweet-natured boy has been waiting for a forever home, well…forever. We are hoping his lucky day will come soon.

Our adoption hours are as follows:
Tuesdays & Thursdays from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Wednesdays 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
