Xavier Labrador Retriever Mix Mankato, MN

Xavier is a very lovable and sweet lab mix who has been at the shelter for months and months. He is our 2nd longest resident. He likes to go on walks and play in the play yard. His favorite game is “catch me if you can”. He needs a little training or someone who has a lovingly dominant personality that he can respect and learn manners from. When super happy, he often jumps up gently when he sees someone he likes. But he tries to rectify the situation by turning that into a hug, where he'll actually wrap his arms around you and lay his head on your stomach.

Xavier weighs 56 lbs and will celebrate his 2nd birthday in March. Unbelievably, Xavier has lived in 3 different shelters in his short life. He has spent some time at a shelter in Red Lake, as well as 2 months at AHS in Buffalo. He was transferred to BENCHS No-Kill shelter on March 2nd and has been here ever since waiting for the perfect family.

Xavier loves his people and likes to lean against you, sit on your lap, touch you or any other way he can be in contact with you. He would do best in a home with a really affectionate person who can celebrate his awesome personality and make him feel loved. *Unfortunately, Xavier is not a fan of other dogs, and he needs a home where he is the only pet so his personality can shine.

STAFF NOTES: "Xavier loves people!! He wants nothing more than a day of play and cuddles. He is super smart which means he wants to be in control. He will test of the rules of the home daily and needs a kind, firm hand from his owner. When he gets the exercise he so desperately craves, he is one of the most phenomenal dogs I have ever met. He is goofy and playful and lovable! He gives great kisses! I think he would do well if given a job. (He might be a border collie mix!")

STAFF NOTES: "When he's by you he has to be touching you. Will be a very loyal dog. Still needs some work on his jumping up and some nipping when he sees you."

Adoption fee of $270 will include spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea and tick preventative, dewormer and heartworm test.
