Meet King

I’ve been trying to get over to walk King twice a week. Chris suggested I pass on any comments I had about him.

He’s HAPPY and ENERGETIC, although I suspect that with a routine and regular exercise, he’d be calmer. He’s responsive – I’ve been working on heeling and sitting when we stop walking. If I walked him daily, he’d probably have it figured out in a week. If you are walking him and you cue him before you turn – pat your leg, say “King, here” or “King, this way” he’ll turn with you with a loose leash. Left to his own devices, he’ll pull on the leash. He doesn’t seem to be skittish at all. You can handle his feet and him – he has a bit of a limp and I was checking his feet and Chris checked his feet and legs/shoulder – no problem – he lay down and rolled onto his side, just in case we needed to rub his stomach too. He does have a tendency to jump on people and put his feet up on the dresser in the shelter – but that’s basic manners. He seems okay with the other dogs – didn’t appear to bother him that he was on a leash and another dog was off leash when we were in the outdoor kennel area. He wasn’t too keen to go back into his pen, but the only offered passive resistance no growling, teeth, or anything.

Hey there.

Around these animal shelter parts, I'm known as King. Although I'm high energy like the King in Neil Young's song, I ain't no hound dog.

Basically, that means I need a new buddy who likes to get exercise and has time to work with me. Let's face it, my manners aren't where they should be and I really love to jump up on people. My friends in the shelter aren't always impressed with my jumping, but hey, I just want to be friends. They say with a good home, I'll learn my manners.

If you like to get exercise, play and have time to train me, then we should definitely meet up.

Thanks!

King
