Medical information
-Heartworm negative
-Spayed
-Fully vaccinated
-Microchipped
-Current on flea and heartworm prevention
Behavior information
-Incredibly intelligent
-Very eager to work (physically and mentally)
-Knows all basic commands (sit, down, touch, stay)
-Walks very well on leash
-Rides well in the car
-Housebroken
-Fearful of new people, primarily men. This fear can (at times) cause her to growl, snarl or lunge.
-No bite history
-Extremely loyal to those she loves and is willing to protect them, sometimes with aggression.
-Once Sunny has accepted you, and feels you are safe, she is a loyal and loving dog. We do have proof of this with staff members at the shelter.
-Working on completing her Novice Trick Dog title
-Registered with the National Association of Canine Scentwork and is working on obtaining her NW1 title.
-Enjoys other dogs’ company, but can play rough
Who can adopt Sunny
-Adults only – no children living or visiting in the home
-Experienced dog owners
-An owner willing to continue on with her behavior modification training
-An owner who understands that Sunny will require life-long management of her behavioral concerns. While she has the potential to make improvements, her behaviors will always need management to keep her safe.
-Someone willing to come in to the adoption center on a regular basis for approximately a month so she can become comfortable with them before going home.
Who should not apply to adopt Sunny
-Anyone with children in the home OR who have children that visit their home.
-Anyone not willing to continue her behavior training.
-Anyone with cats in the home.
