Meet Rusty! This handsome approximately 6-year-old boy is ready to finally find his forever home. Rusty is an easy going dog who has excellent house manners. He knows his commands and walks well on leash. He does well in a crate but has also earned the privilege of being loose and watching over the house when his foster parents are away at work. Rusty likes to spend his time lounging on the couch but really gets excited for walks, adventures and chasing flies! Rusty would make an excellent hiking partner but will also be happy to share popcorn and watch a movie. He's truly a sweet dog that loves being doted on. Rusty lives with multiple dogs of all sizes and always does well with proper introductions, however, small animals and cats might make him too excited and would do best in a home without. Children also seem to make Rusty uncomfortable, so we would recommend an adult only home.
Rusty LOVES to play fetch and is extremely eager to please. Being so food motivated, Rusty will proudly show you all his commands with no hesitation for a treat.
Rusty is an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog and will thrive in a home with a calm and confident owner. In the past, Rusty could get nervous in new situations or around new people, but under the care of his current foster you'd never know that used to be an issue!
Rusty's foster parents think he is such a catch and he has really become an adored part of the household.

We originally rescued Rusty from the Yakima Humane Society in December 2013. We estimate he was born in 2011, weighs about 60 pounds, and we think he's likely a Retriever mix.
Rusty was adopted from us in October 2015 but unfortunately after about a year in his new home, their older dog became less than tolerant of Rusty, so his adopters made the extremely difficult decision to return him to us. He immediately settled back into foster care and is now just waiting for his forever home to find him.

Rusty has been vet checked, is up to date with vaccinations, and is neutered and microchipped.
