Meet Bernie (ID# D12-65) **ADOPTED**

UUpdate 10/30/15: ADOPTED!

pdate 7/1/14: Meet Bernie!

Bernie is a 1 year old, 60lb Treeing Walker Coonhound mix who is looking for a home to call his very own.

Bernie is good with other dogs. He does great, playing with the other dogs at the rescue. His previous owners also used to take him to doggie daycare and he did fine with the other dogs there.

Bernie suffers from a generalized anxiety that we are currently treating with medication and behavioral training. We are happy to report that the medication and training has definitely helped him, but we know he would improve much more quickly if he was in a home, instead of at our kennel facility.

Because of Bernie's anxiety, we are recommending an adult-only home so it is a quieter, calmer atmosphere for Bernie. However, a home with other dogs would certainly be welcome!

Bernie loves to play with his toys and will fetch them if you throw them around the backyard. He likes to lean into you when you pet him and really is a good dog at heart. Please consider contacting us about Bernie and coming to meet him. You won't be sorry!

Interested in meeting and possibly adopting this dog? Fill-out an online adoption application via www.sadiemaefoundation.org. $300 adoption donation, reference check and home visit are required prior to adoption.

While in the care of the Sadie Mae Foundation, all animals are fully vaccinated, heart worm tested and spayed or neutered. Other medical treatments may be provided to our animals, depending upon their specific needs.

In addition, this animal has been microchipped for identification purposes through HomeAgain's® Chip FurKeeps program. Adopters are required to pay the additional one-time,$10.99 microchip registration fee (which lasts the lifetime of the animal) upon adoption.

Info. about Sadie Mae Foundation's adoption process
Please note that we do not ship animals or do same-day adoptions. Additionally, we ordinarily limit adoptions to homes within CT or no more than an hour or so drive from Hartford, CT in order to be able to conduct a home visit and provide follow-up assistance when necessary. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis.

We try to make our adoption process as easy and painless as possible, but please understand where we are coming from and all of the work that goes into rescuing and rehoming homeless animals. We don't want them to go through this again. Visit www.sadiemaefoundation.org to learn about the adoption process in detail.

If you are not in a position to adopt a pet that tugs at your heart strings, consider sponsoring its care. Click here for details.
