UPDATE: 8-15-14 - Thank you all for your prayers. Theo's biopsies were pretty promising. His mast cell cancer was only Stage 1 and both tumors had clean margins. This is awesome news!! Our Theo is now available for adoption again and we are taking applications for him now!! UPDATE: 7-21-14 - Theo went to the vet for an update on his vaccinations. It was only supposed to be a routine check up. But, our rescue vet noticed two small growths and he aspirated them and sent them out for biopsy. Much to our dismay, both growths showed up as mast cell cancer. Theo now has an appointment for surgery to have the growths removed. Prayers for a good outcome for this wonderful dog!! We need to get him well and find him his "forever" home. Donations are being accepted and are much appreciated to help cover Theo's surgery bill. UPDATE: 11-06-13 - Theo is doing very well in his foster home. But, he is wondering why no one wants to adopt him?? And, so are we! This is one wonderful dog who is very happy about being alive and who is also very loving. He adores people of all ages and he gets along well with the dogs in his foster home. Theo is very athletic and could easily scale a four foot fence. So, caution would have to taken if you have a fenced-in yard that is not secure enough for him. Otherwise, this boy would be a wonderful addition to just about any family. Please consider our Theo...he has been waiting for his "forever" home for a long time!! 05-28-13 - Handsome Theo is, what appears to be, an American Bulldog/Boxer/Black Lab mix who was recently rescued from the URGENT list at a high kill shelter. There is something very "special" about Theo! To know him is to "fall in love" with him. His foster mom is already "smitten". Theo has a friendly disposition and he is super good with other dogs. Theo is just an over-all AWESOME dog!! He is a quiet dog..doesn't do a lot of barking. He is totally house-trained, crate-trained and he knows some basic commands. Theo is estimated to be 4-5 years old and he weighs about 65 lbs. His temperament, and energy level, are perfect for a home with children. He LOVES to play ball!! Theo is already neutered and he is up-to-date with vaccinations. He has recently been treated for heart-worm disease and he is on the road to recovery. The only "special" care needed now is limited activity for a few more weeks and monthly HeartGard Plus to ensure that this sweet fella stays heart-worm free. Theo is on flea and tick preventative and he will soon be ready for his "forever" home. He will be available for adoption on June 30th and his adoption fee is $250.
