Meet Lenny

Lenny is a male brown/black striped tabby born March 2009. Twelve pounds and Medium build. A very affectionate and active almost five-year-old bachelor cat. Lenny has some charming quirks. He likes to give a gentle head bump to his human companions and likes to lick the gravy off the canned food, returning later to finish the rest. He can be shy at first when meeting new people, but that wears off quickly. He has not lost his boyish curiosity and will open your bifold closet doors and taste the water in the toilet bowl if the lid is left up. He will sleep in your bed if you allow it, and may join you on the couch for a movie. He sometimes meows at night when he shouldn’t, but he understands and responds to a firm "NO." He has good litter habits. Lenny doesn’t want to share your affections with other cats and says "I’m all the cat you will ever need". We do not know how he responds to dogs. Lenny may be a good candidate for a home with school age kids cause he is not likely to scratch or hiss at his human family. He was adopted out as a kitten but went astray at some point in early 2013, and turned up at a St. Pete animal clinic in March 2013 before being placed with his current temporary foster family. Send an email if you'd like to meet Lenny.

All Save Our Strays Inc cats have been sterilized, given one distemper vaccine, a rabies vaccine and have been tested for FeLV if under 6 months of age and for both FeLV/FIV if older. Also all have been microchipped. A contract must be completed prior to any adoption after approval of the adopter by one of our adoption volunteers. There is a screening process so merely wanting to adopt doesn't make someone eligible to adopt. Adoptions are approved at the discretion of the screeners. Please note cats come in and out of foster homes so seeing a cat on this site does not guarantee it will be available when you contact us. Also we do not adopt on a "first come first serve" basis. Our volunteers, particularly the foster homes, have first right of adoption even if at some point the photo is posted on this site. The adoption fee is $50.00 (subject to change.) Renters will be asked to provide proof that pets are allowed. Placements are made based on the needs of each cat.
