Winky is a sweet girl that found running at large with a pitbull and taken to her local animal control. While animal control had her on file (and had her recorded in their files for 10 years), all attempts made to contact the owners failed. We can only assume that the owners moved, and decided to abandon Winky hoping someone else would help her. Winky is over 10 years old, and about 35 lbs.

Winky needed her eye removed due to glaucoma and increasing pressure, as well, she needed to be spayed and have a dental with a few extractions of very decayed and neglected teeth. Her local animal control could not afford this, and our rescue stepped in to give her the help she needed. Winky has been waiting for her forever home for over a year, and had another dental cleaning and extractions this May 2014.

Winky's vet bills have totaled $1500. Without the help of animal lovers like yourself, our rescue cannot help all the animals that come to us in need. Winky is a very sweet girl, but has a few quirks that need to be considered to find her the perfect home :)

Winky is a happy girl, but is older, and would be best in a home with no children under 18 years old. She is still quite active, and can handle a few short walks a day, or a longer hour one. She is also content to just play at home in the living room and yard, and sleep while you work on the computer :)

Winky can be a little protective around some new people (barky, etc) and if given the chance will try to be possessive over "her" people. But as she gets to know "new friends" she warms up, and while she has growled and looked intimidating at times, she has never actually bit anyone.

Winky does have that eskie instinct to chase bikes and skateboards etc. She would likely be good in a home with cats, but we have not tested it.

Winky is good around other dogs for the most part, though she is a little food possessive to dogs, and can be an "instigator" if energies are high ;) She is not a great "play buddy" for a really active dog, but is a good furry companion for another older, easygoing dog. She would also be just as happy to e your only baby in the house.
