Meet Champ 7 yrs ADOPTED
Someone sure knew what they were doing when they named this handsome boy “Champ.” A loving, big guy, 7 year old Champ is indeed very special. Not only handsome, he also possesses those qualities that make Golden Retrievers such a beloved breed – loyal, gentle, affectionate, outgoing. He is carrying a few extra pounds, and his joints would benefit from the loss of just a little weight – easy to accomplish with a small reduction in his food and some fun exercise with you.
Champ was surrendered to GRRR by a family who loved him very much. It was a difficult decision, but they felt it was the right one for Champ and for their family. About 2 years ago Champ experienced his first seizure, and he has had a few more since then. He has not required medication for this condition, and he continues to be the same wonderful Golden they have always known him to be. However, they now have 2 babies in their home which caused them concern should more seizures occur.
While this is a heartbreaking loss for Champ’s original family, this special dog has found a soft place to land here at GRRR while he waits for his forever home. His medical condition will always need to be monitored but many dogs lead full, active lives while managing seizures. And this Golden, being the “Champ” that he is, promises a bright future.
